What we repair

Stone benchtop repairs we do.

Chipped edges and corners

We rebuild the missing piece, shape the edge profile and match the colour and the veining.

Chips around sinks and cooktops

Cut-out edges chip when pots hit them. We fill and blend them so the line is straight again.

Cracks

We fill and stabilise cracks, then colour match the fill line so it stops catching the eye.

Holes and old tap holes

We fill holes flush and draw the veining or the pattern back across them.

Burn and heat marks

We cut back the marked area and re-polish it to match the sheen of the rest of the top.

Dull patches and etching

Marble etches under lemon, wine and cleaning products. We re-polish the patch to the surrounding finish.

What we say no to

When a stone benchtop needs replacing.

Some damage is not worth repairing, and we say so before you spend anything.

  • A benchtop that is cracked through and moving at the crack. We can fill it, but we will tell you if it needs support or replacement first.
  • A top that has been cut too short or fitted wrong. That is a stone mason job, not a repair.
  • Damage across the whole top, like sanding marks over every surface. Sometimes a full re-polish by a stone mason costs less.

Questions about stone benchtop repair

Stone benchtop repair questions.

Can a chipped stone benchtop be repaired?

Yes. We rebuild the chip with a filler made for stone, shape it to the edge and colour match it. On marble and engineered stone we also match the veining. Most edge chips are done in one visit. Send us a photo and we will tell you what we can do.

Can you repair a crack in engineered stone?

Usually. We fill the crack, stabilise it and colour match the fill so it stops showing. If the top has moved or the crack goes right through and is still opening, we tell you before we quote. Sometimes a crack needs support under the top first.

Will the repair be visible?

Our job is to make the repair blend into the stone around it. We match the base colour, the pattern and the sheen on site. A repair on a plain stone is very hard to find. On a heavy vein we draw the vein back across the repair.

How long does a benchtop repair take?

Most chips and burn marks take one visit. We fill, cure, sand and polish in that visit. Cracks and large holes can take longer because the fill goes in stages. We tell you the time and when you can use the top again in the quote.

Do I need to take the benchtop out?

No. We repair the top where it is fitted. The sink, taps and cooktop stay in place. We cover the area around the repair and clean it when we finish.

Do you repair stone in commercial sites?

Yes. We repair stone benchtops, vanities, wall panels and reception counters in apartments, hotels, offices and shops. Builders call us before handover to fix chips that happened during the fitout. We can work after hours where the site needs it.

Can a Caesarstone chip be repaired?

Yes. Caesarstone is an engineered stone, and we repair chips in it on site. We fill the chip with a filler made for stone, shape it to the edge and colour match it to the slab. We repair other engineered stone and quartz benchtops the same way.

Do you repair granite and marble benchtops?

Yes. We repair chips, cracks and holes in granite and marble. Marble also etches and goes dull under lemon, wine and some cleaners. We re-polish the dull patch to match the rest of the top. Send a photo and we tell you what we can do.

What affects the cost of a stone benchtop repair?

The size and number of chips, whether a crack needs to be stabilised, and how hard the colour and veining are to match. We quote from a photo, so you get a fixed written price before we come. A repair costs a fraction of a new benchtop.
