Lifting or bubbling laminate

We re-bond the laminate to the board where it has lifted and seal the edge.

Swollen edges from water

We cut back the swollen board, rebuild the edge and seal it against water.

What we say no to

When a laminate benchtop needs replacing.

Some damage is not worth repairing, and we say so before you spend anything.

Laminate that has lifted across most of the top. Re-laminating is a joinery job and we will say so.
Board that is soaked through and crumbling along a long run. A small swollen edge we can rebuild. A rotten top we cannot.
A colour or pattern that no longer exists on a very large repair. We can match most, but we tell you if the repair will show.

Can a burnt laminate benchtop be repaired?

Yes, in most cases. We cut out the scorched layer, fill the spot with a hard filler and re-finish it to match the colour and the pattern of the laminate. A burn the size of a pot base is a normal job for us. Send a photo and we will confirm.

Can you fix a chip on the edge of a laminate benchtop?

Yes. Edge chips are the most common laminate job we get. We rebuild the missing corner or edge, square it up and colour match it. On a patterned laminate we paint the pattern back in by hand.

Can lifting laminate be glued back down?

Usually. If the board under it is dry and sound, we re-bond the laminate and seal the edge. If the board has swollen from water, we cut the swollen part back and rebuild it first.

Will the colour match?

We mix the colour on site against your benchtop, not from a chart. Plain colours are very hard to spot after a repair. Patterned and stone-look laminates take more work, and we tell you up front how close we can get.

Is it cheaper to repair or replace a laminate benchtop?

A repair is a fraction of a new top, because you do not pay for a new top, a joiner, a plumber and the time without a kitchen. We quote each job from a photo so you can compare. If replacing makes more sense, we say so.
